Title: How to prepare your school to implement the DCF: don’t be afraid to innovate, involve pupils and be aspirational in your outlook

Maldwyn was born in Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant, Montgomeryshire but received most of his primary education in Llandovery.  Maldwyn started his secondary education at Ysgol Pantycelyn before moving to Ysgol Penweddig, Aberystwyth and studying at UCW Aberystwyth where he graduated with honours in Theology.  He also completed his primary, secondary and adult education PGCE at Aberystwyth.

Maldwyn taught and was appointed a headteacher in two schools in Ceredigion.  He also spent some time as an ICT advisory teacher working for Dyfed County Council before being appointed as a School Improvement Officer in Powys.  One of his responsibilities during that time was ICT.  During this period, he often contributed on radio and TV programmes on ICT issues in schools, contributed articles and reviews to the TES, served on national panels and wrote a book on using ICT across the curriculum based on internet projects.

He has been with Estyn for eight years, initially on secondment before his appointment as an HMI.  Here he has responsibility for ICT and Digital Competence.

Ganwyd Maldwyn yn Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Sir Drefaldwyn, ond cafodd y rhan fwyaf o’i addysg gynradd yn Llanymddyfri.  Dechreuodd Maldwyn ei addysg uwchradd yn Ysgol Pantycelyn cyn symud i Ysgol Penweddig, Aberystwyth ac yna astudio yng Ngholeg Prifysgol Cymru Aberystwyth, lle y graddiodd gydag anrhydedd mewn Diwinyddiaeth.  Yno hefyd cwblhaodd ei TAR cynradd, uwchradd ac addysg oedolion.

Bu Maldwyn yn athro ac yn bennaeth mewn dwy ysgol yng Ngheredigion.  Treuliodd peth amser fel athro ymgynghorol yn gweithio i Gyngor Sir Dyfed cyn cael ei benodi yn Swyddog Gwella Ysgolion ym Mhowys.  Un o’i gyfrifoldebau yno oedd TGCh.  Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn cyfrannodd yn gyson ar raglenni radio a’r newyddion am faterion TGCh mewn ysgolion, ymddangosodd erthyglau ac adolygiadau ganddo yn y TES, cyfrannodd ar banelau cenedlaethol TGCh a chyhoeddodd lyfr ar ddefnyddio TGCh ar draws y cwricwlwm drwy brosiectau ar y rhyngrwyd.

Mae wedi bod gydag Estyn ers wyth mlynedd, i ddechrau ar secondiad cyn ei benodiad fel AEM.  Ef sydd â chyfrifoldeb tros TGCh a chymhwysedd digidol o fewn Estyn.
