Dr Huw Davies
Title: Return of the (digital) native? Problems and opportunities presented by young people’s sophisticated use of the Internet.

Huw is a former secondary ICT teacher who is now a sociologist and researcher at the University of Oxford’s Internet Institute. He specialises in young people’s engagements with digital technology, particularly in educational contexts. His most recent research papers have addressed how young people use Google to inform themselves about controversial issues in the media, the experiences of families who can’t afford an Internet connection, and how young people are experimenting beyond adult supervision by teaching themselves to use digital technology.

Mae Huw yn gyn athro TGCh sydd bellach yn gymdeithasegwr ac yn ymchwilydd yn Sefydliad y Rhyngrwyd Prifysgol Rhydychen.  Mae’n arbenigo yng ngweithgarwch ymgysylltu pobl ifanc â thechnoleg ddigidol, yn enwedig mewn cyd-destunau addysgol.  Mae ei bapurau ymchwil mwyaf diweddar wedi rhoi sylw i’r ffordd y mae pobl ifanc yn defnyddio Google er mwyn cael gwybodaeth am faterion dadleuol yn y cyfryngau, profiad teuluoedd nad ydynt yn gallu fforddio cael cyswllt Rhyngrwyd, a sut y mae pobl ifanc yn arbrofi y tu hwnt i oruchwyliaeth oedolion trwy addysgu eu hunain i ddefnyddio technoleg ddigidol.
